For this Sunday's Solo game I used Nimitz rules to adjudicate some destroyer action in the Indian Ocean. Spring 1942, and the British Royal Navy is facing significant challenges during the IJN's Indian Ocean raid (Operation C), March 31 to
April 10, 1942, as Japanese forces aim to destroy the British Eastern
Fleet...
The Japanese enjoyed some numerical superiority: 8 DD for 24 points:
The British had 6 DD at 22 points:
As the night fell with tropical speed, the IJN were at an advantage in terms of gunnery - the surviving British DDs threw their helms over and RTB to replen torpedoes (and pink gins!)

Great models and a nice little action too:).
ReplyDeleteThanks Steve. Good fun!
DeleteA great looking game Sparker.
ReplyDeleteA tough one for the IJN. I think that they couldn't afford to lose destroyers on a 1:1 ratio with the Allies so perhaps a win for the RN.
Thanks Ben! Yes for the sake of the scenario I didn't let them use their torpedoes at long range so a bit of a challenge!
DeleteTop looking action using those beautifully constructed and painted 1/700 kits.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes, James
Thanks James, your kind comments much appreciated!
